Cosmonaut Aleksandar Pavlovich Aleksandrovs visist to Belgrade

To mark fifty years since the first flight of man into space, in addition to numerous events held on this occasion, an exhibition dedicated to Yuri Gagarin has been set up at the Museum of Aviation in Belgrade in early April, to the first man who flew into space and thus began the space age of mankind.

 
A month later , on May17th, in organization of the Russian Embassy and the Russian House in Belgrade, a real cosmonaut came to visit us - Alexander Pavlovich Aleksandrov, twice a Hero of the Soviet Union, who flew twice in the cosmos and spent there exactly 309 days, 18 hours, 2 minutes and 58 seconds. During these flights, in order to complete various tasks,  he conducted two spacewalks for a total of 5 hours 44 minutes and 15 seconds.
 
 
During his visit to Belgrade, A.P. Aleksandrov visited exhibition of the Museum of Aviation dedicated to the Gagarin, and met with representatives of the museum, as well as the President of the Cluster of Serbian Aeronautical Industry, Mr. Velibor Vukasinovic. In this encounter, which was held in a very friendly atmosphere, A.P. Aleksandrov signed the application form of the Cluster of Serbian Aeronautical Industry, and thus became one of the most famous members of the Cluster.

 

Aleksandar Pavlovich Aleksandrov – Biography

 

A.P Aleksandrow was born in Moscow on February 20th, 1943, where he graduated on Moscow Bauman-Highschool in 1969 with a doctorate degree, specialized on spacecraft steering systems. As he worked in the the design bureau, his dream was to become a cosmonaut, and that dream came true after he was selected to become a member of cosmonaut team in 1978. For his first spaceflight, he flew as Flight Engineer on Soyuz T-9, which lasted from June to November 1983. For his second spaceflight, he replaced one of the long-duration crew members of Mir EO-2. For the spaceflight, he was launched with the spacecraft Soyuz TM-3 in July 1987, and landed with the same spacecraft in December 1987. After completion of his cosmonaut career, he devoted himself to engineering work and is currently working as Adviser of the President of the S.P. Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation Energia.
